Started on basal bolus and yesterday I woke up feeling very ill and had ketones in my urine, managed to get rid of them by drinking lots of water and injecting more insulin and taking dioralite to replace my electrolytes now this morning my blood sugar is 14 raised to 19 even after taking insulin and now I have ketones again but I don't feel unwell any advice I really don't want to go to hospital

Phone your DSN for help. If you've just started a new insulin regime, your doses may need tweaking.

If the ketones persist, then you should definitely get medical advice. Better to be safe :)

If your keytones are high get medical advice. I didn't and ended up in hospital. They made me drink so much water I ended up water logged

Well just tested my ketones as well and now there's only a trace of them, so confused !

As @azure suggests get in contact with your DSN and discuss with them your high bg levels, as you've only just started on basal/bolus it may take a while to get the insulin doses right.

would also be benificial to have a keytone meter rather than urine sticks as they are much more accurate. Ask your DSN :) glad your feeling ok

Glucomen LX Plus meter comes with B G and keytone strips.

Definitely get a Glucomen LX Plus meter from your diabetes team! I was ketonic & admitted to hospital unexpectedly at the weekend, okay now but don't think I'd feel so confident if I didn't have my ketone meter :)
