Ketones?

Just had a high blood glucose reading of 19.1

Feel ok-ish just really tired!
It was 19.1 as I had my evening meal, which consisted of 3+1/2 cp's so did a correction with 3 units of quick acting Insulin (Novorapid) so 6 units altogether.
Had my Background at 1810 as I wasnt due home till about 8pm and my BS was a little high then. Infact its been high all day

Been dog training and exersising so dont understand where this has come from

So I checked for Ketones as suggested by my meter, it was 0.2
It has suggested I check my BS in 2 hours and if over 13 check for ketones again is this right?

Hi Linda - Your ketones are quite low at 0.2. It would be an idea to check again if your BGs are still high in case ketones have gone up. Seems like your meter is giving good advice

I checked before bed and they were 15.3 and still showing 0.2 ketones.
Hasnt come down much today (11.9) had my Basal at 0800 and no breakfast yet so we''ll see what happens.

Serendipity, if your bg levels continue to be elevated do get in touch with your diabetes team, they will advise you on adjusting your insulin doses.

As others have said,keep an eye on both your BG and ketone levels and if things deteriorate-get onto your team...and in the meanwhile-keep well hydrated!

Story so far...
Sugars have been higher than normal last couple over days
Driving and very active all day yesterday (dog training)
Been eating and drinking and taking correct Bolus throughout
BG WAS 9.5 before driving the 2 hour journey home so no corrections Basal of 30 units given before driving
Evening meal was 3 and 1/2 cp's and bloods were 19.1 so a correction of 3 = 6 units of Blous given at 2100
Tested for Ketones and 0.2
2 hours later bloods were 19.5 no checking for Ketones at this point
At Midnight just before going to sleep checked bloods and they were 15.3 and showed Ketones of 0.2
When my sugars were elevated 19.1 at 2100 phoned 111 and they advised to speak to local out of hours gp unit so they transfered me
Dr there said if levels go above 20 with any Keytones to ring back. And to ring my GP and Dn at the hospital next day.
Went to sleep
Upon waking checked and bloods were 12.2 so gave Basal of 30
This morning new meter came so checked bloods at 1100 and it was 11.9 at this point I hadnt eaten anything as not hungry but feeling very tired.
13.15 Forced 100g of pasta checked bloods and 13.3 so gave 3 units for the pasta and a correction of 2 so totaling 5 units of Bolus.
Amongst all of this, phoned DN at hospital and left message
Phoned Gp surgery where a triage nurse phoned back and said there's no-one there to help so will let my DN know when she comes on duty tomorrow.
At the moment all I have is you Guys and Dafne online but its rarely used.
Im drinking ok and feeling ok too.
