was after advice really have not been feeling very well all week standard cold but I had a really achey back and that has moved round to the right side of my chest. The doctor thought I had just pulled a muscle from all the coughing. I have not been able to go to the loo since Monday whereas I'm normally a 3 times a day person.

However last night I tested my ketones and they were 0.4 then 0.3 before I went to bed. Upon along they have been 1.0, 1.0, 0.7, 0.6, 0.8, 0.7 and most recently 0.9.

I called the diabetes specialists who told me to drink water and rest up this was after the 2nd 1.0 and they would call me back later.

Has anyone got any suggestions of how to get the ketonelevels down my blood sugar is fine as I am concerned the diabetes specialists are going to tell me to keep monitoring it but then it's the weekend and I'm stuck

Thanks for any advice

Where is your blood glucose? You need to look at both the glucose level and the ketone level in tandem. Ketone levels at the level you are seeing are not generally considered dangerous, and are a side effect of a higher blood glucose level. As your glucose level comes down so should your ketones disappear.

If your glucose level is very high, then you need to consider your insulin dosage.

Are you applying sick day rules?

Thanks glucose has been fine anything between 5.8 and 8.8. Think I was probably in starvation mode as since keeping some food down they have dropped to 0.1
