been feeling off recently bad tummy pains really tires upset tummy really hungry so gave doc urine sample today and he found keytones in it so has sent it to the lab everything iv looked up about this says im prob diabetic but could this really be the case anyone else find out this way or any advise iv got to wait 4 days for lab so doing my head in a bit cheers

Did your Doctor test your glucose levels too? If you have keytones in your urine you may have high levels which should be dealt with sooner rather than later.

Hi. I think the doc should have done a blood sugar test which he could have done in the surgery with a meter. Wait for the results of the ketone check but do consider asking for a blood test for diabetes at that point.

Hi 
Just having ketones in your urine is not enough. Don't forget you get high ketones when your body is using fat instead of glucose to fuel your energy. People on low carb diets too will have elevated ketones and there's nothing wrong with that providing they are not linked to high blood sugar levels too and don't go on for too long.
Your Dr should have really not only done a blood test but also run a HbA1C if those are high as well as high ketones then you need to worry otherwise it's just a natural function of our bodies to burn fat (which produces your ketones as a side product) for energy.
