Hi.......Have been told my Right Kidney is only working 30% and may be producing Cancer cells.
I have to go into hospital and have a Contrast MRI Scan and then stay in hospital (Due to my age 78)
For observation until the results.
Has anyone else had to have one of these and if so I would be very grateful for any information
about it as I have heard they can be quite risky........thanks a lot.

The contrast is used to enhance images, it is usually iodine based, mine was administered via automated injector intravenously but may be done via hand injection, will be told when it is going to be released. It takes about a day to leave your system, so I presume you are staying overnight to ensure it passes from kidneys.
I've had a few of these without any problem

Sorry to hear this mike.

Hope the tests go OK, and they feed you properly in hospital!

Please let us know how you go.

Like @Shar67 I've had a few contrast scans with no problems. Imagine they're being cautious and taking care of you. Hope it turns out OK, best wishes.

Thank you to everyone for your replies........will keep you posted .......kind regards.........
