kidneys and Diabetes.

People shouting while on their phones.
Can I ask if Kidney damage can be Reversed, I don't smoke only drink about once a year I try to keep a balanced diet.But my kidneys have shrunk to 9cm. Is it the food I eat or the amount of it.I cannot exercise but have been considering going to the hydra pool as it is warm water. I don't cook as lifting pans is impossible because . of arthritus in my hands. I have asked my doctor for tester strips but refuses to give them to me. So I think I will have to buy them as I just don't know what my blood sugar is doing.

You will need test strips as you must be aware of glucose levels daily. Diabetes is hard on the kidneys as the glucose molecules passing through the kidney damage the nephrites, the areas of filtration. As for the shrinkage, you will need some medical advice on the cause and possible reversal of this condition. The moderators may be able to give further information. I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery.
 
Not sure sorry, but if they're still working you must must must do everything you possibly can for them!

I recently had an episode of extreme kidney stress (renal tubular acidosis), luckily they seem OK. Spent 5-6 weeks in the renal ward with people on dialysis, etc...
That was sobering.

I would not know if kidney damage can be reversed or what your doctor said has caused your kidneys to shrink but I wonder if you take blood pressure tablets as sometimes they can cause kidney problems
