Hi new to the forum and most probably been asked before, but hey ho here goes. Was diagnosed at the age of 5 now 32. No complications, till last year. So for the years before last year i was always on humolog mix 25 for years and years, cant even remember when I started on it, anyway moved to Sweden and my specialist told me she was going to change my insulin. Ok i thought, started on Lantus and a quick acting which I now can't remember the name of. So after the first few days I was so lethargic could hardly go out and cut the grass or even get up the stairs sometimes. So I noticed my blood pressure started to go up. Hence why I was feeling awful all the time. The thing is she is so sure that the kidneys where damaged before the high blood pressure and i think it was the other way round that the high blood pressure has affected my kidneys. Anyone else ever had the same issue or similar. Now trying highblood pressure meds that don't seem to be doing anything.

Hey @timcairns26

probably stupid questions but here goes ......

what were your BG's and A1C on the Humalog mix -- have you seen any change in readings since going on MDI ( multiple daily injections ) , both A1C and daily readings . ????

blood pressure , kidneys , eyes , and lower limbs are all critical areas for us as type 1's.

could there be coincidence in what you have reported , have you had yearly kidney function tests done prior to this past year and have they always been normal ????

it is really difficult to speculate on the order things are happening given the info you have provided -- I would keep following up with your care team , ask for a second opinion , and make sure you are doing all you can to keep yourself in check ( testing , eating , dosing etc )
