Korean food for diabetics

Hi all --
I have just been invited to join people for a meal at Kimchi Korean restaurant in London. I can see some obvious things to avoid on the menu, but can anyone advise on the best failsafe choices for diabetics in a Korean restaurant (bearing in mind that noodles, rice etc may be prepared very differently by different restaurants)?

It probably depends upon the restaurant but many Korean restaurants have a kind of grill/barbecue at the table (usually hidden under a placemat). So you can order some lovely meat to cook as you would like.
As you mentioned, sides tend to be pretty carby apart from kimchi itself which varies but it is usually cabbage based.
Sauces tend to be on the sweet, spicey side but the flavours are quite strong so you don't need much.

Many thanks -- this is very helpful. My instinct is to be ultra-cautious but I was at a workshop yesterday put on by a prestigious organization where 'lunch' consisted of a few measly sandwiches, one of which was enough to send my levels sky-rocketing for the rest of the day, so I'm sure Korean food can't do worse damage and will certainly be more tasty....
