I am at a loss to understand why different area health authorities are providing different blood testing meters. Even if the meters/testing strips are all of equal cost and equal quality, is it completely beyond the abilities of the procurement managers of each authority to communicate with each other and buy from a single supplier as surely there are discounts to be had by doing so?

Aren’t the testing meters given freely as cost lies in the strips? Perhaps it depends on the success of the drug reps, flogging their wares to the surgeries

That's too much common sense for one authority; after all profit comes before humans that care.

Hi lakesider52,

Firstly welcome to the forums.

Your post makes total sense to me but our local health authorities don't provide and blood testing meter to T2D any more at all, we have to fund our own meters and strips, even pensioners don't get them any more. :(
