Lantus and levemir

Thanks for your help. Do any chemists sell that or where do you get it from

Best place and source is through an avon 'rep' .
Or try ebay it is quite cheap and often on there too

It will be the blue one you will need of this - it includes the insect repellent in it .
A lot of climbers and walkers , climbing/walking abroad use this .

Hope this can help you mark .

Hi Mark,
Some people just cannot get on with levemir or lantus. I used both of these when I was diagnosed 4 years ago. At first I noticed that I was getting tired very quickly and exhausted at the end of my shift. I am a home shopping delivery driver for a supermarket so it a tiring job anyway. I had foggy head at times...feeling drugged up and I noticed that I was walking much slower that I usually do. I had NO joint pains...luckily... but the tiredness became fatigue and exhaustion. After about a year like this taking 60 units twice a day, DSN etc, knew how I was feeling..I was put onto lantus and I was only taking about 30 units a day. After about 2 months feeling better it all started again. By this time I had to reduce my hours at work and I was extremely exhausted. I had loads of tests but all was ok. After 2 more years of hell my DSN said that she didn't know what was wrong with me so I looked up the diabetes forums.. I type in lanuts tiredness and wow!!!!realised that many people had same symptomss as I so I informed the diabetic team but They didn't want to know....Anyway after complaining to the hospital I was allowed to try porcine insulins and within days of coming off lantus and novorapid ALL bad feelings went away.

So Mark watch how you are feeling, read up on lantus problems on the diabetic forums...Your body may NOT be able to use lantus or levemir. Good Luck!!!

Thank you i must have a look up about different insulins. I always have the tired feeling for years now but mever associated it with insulin. For a couple months now i have found it hard to control with random readings. I am finding it very hard to get my readings down low. Everytime i eat no matter what, my reading shoots up over 15 and no matter how much bolus i take it wont come down. My usual ratio of 1:10 does not work anymore. Its getting cery irrtitating at times.

Hi Mark .

I noticed when I switched from human insulin over to animal insulin.
I was foggy head 'free' - porcine gives me a much clearer and focused sense of direction .

A good place to look into the animal insulin's is IDDT .
Jenny Hirst there is so helpful and is available to ask any questions you may have .

She rang me the morning I was due to see my DSN to change my insulin .
Pro- offered many good points and helpful facts about porcine animal insulin .
I was so grateful for her help and input prior to my DSN appointment .
It helped me present a better informed picture of porcine animal insulin to my DSN that day

The only side effect I have had with animal insulin is some dry itchy skin - can live with this as
it is only a minor thing as a side effect .

Hope this can help .

If possible preservative side effect of levemir it is usually evident as a site location
reaction on your abdomen [tummy area] known as lipos .
Large red inflamed site reaction spread widely over time [few hours]
Restricting site rotation area too - as red swelling gets wider .
:D :D

This is exactly what happened to me after a similar allergic reaction to Lantus am now on Insulatard and all seems to be ok :D

Hi Mark forget garlic its an old wives tale but skin so soft body lotion by Avon always works for me they would Never make this claim but it is a worst kept secret you can access Avon on line and I think you will find that once you stop taking copious amounts of garlic pills all will be well. Good Luck and enjoy your holiday!
