Lantus cartridges and Humalog cartridges

Hello,

I recently registered with a new GP and got an appointment to set up my new prescriptions so I could easily order my repeats. Unfortunately despite them typing them all from my old re-order form, and me quickly running my eye down the list on her screen, it turns out she added Lantus as cartridges rather than the pre-filled pens I've use in the past.

Now, the cartridges seem to look identical to my Humalog cartridges. Will they work in my spare humalog pen? I would prefer to make an appointment to change the prescription but it could take another three weeks to see them, and while I do have enough insulin, it feels like a hassle if they do work (and I would ask them to be changed next time I have an appointment, but I don't want to waste these now I have them).

There is a list on the front of the box with 'These cartridges must only be used with these pens' but I have no idea what the name of my pen is as I don't have the box it came in, the one I use just comes with me in my pencil case everywhere!
Thank you

Caspar

I can get my meds changed over the phone, the DSN changed the computerised records whilst I was talking to her and sent it straight through to the pharmacy.

Give them a call, it really shouldn't be that hard in this day and age @CasparA , can't comment on the cartridges sorry.

very often these day's the pharmacy is in close contact with the GP sugery. You could go to the pharmacy and see if they can help, it would also save the doctors time.

Hi Caspar - I was given cartridges on my first prescription when it should have been pre-filled pens. They changed them for me no problem (especially as I didn't have the actual pen for the cartridges).
Should hopefully just take a phone call.

Good luck.
