I was curious to know who out there is using lantus/humalog and trying to lose weight? If so, what is the type of meal plan you follow and how many grams of carbs, protein, and fats do you consume for the day? Also, does it work?

I am on lantus and novolog. I follow a very low carb diet, less than 20 a day and all above ground veggies or a few nuts and the small amount in avocado. I eat about 40 G proteins day, 30 in animal/ fish and the rest in pumpkin seeds, nuts and veggies. Fat not sure just enough to satisfy.
I have hugely reduced insulin.

My meal plan everyday is
BF half an avocado and celery and a pice of deli turkey with a swipe of flavored mayo and sometimes on a lettuce wrap. If I have the turkey wrap I eat 1/4 avocado.
Lunch is 10 G protein and 1/3 avocado with a splattering of chopped red onion, scallion, radish and celery. Sometimes the protein get mayo, sometimes olive oil and sometimes I just mix it all together . Sometimes it's on a piece of lettuce and sometimes not
Dinner is 15 G protein with the same thing as lunch.
For all these meals I take 1/2 unit novolog. I take 1 unit lantus at 10:30 pm.
Occasionallyni have asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower but then I need 1 unit.
I like to keep things as simple as possible these days so I precook proteins in bulk and freeze in portions in baggies. I have no problem with cold salmon, steak, lamb, chicken, turkey, shrimp. White fish like cod, flounder, tilapia I sauté fight before eating.
I definatley need to watch protein portions and carbs. I eat fat to satisfy and with every meal.

Does it work? Absolutely. No grains, starch, dairy, sugar etc.

What type of diabetes do you have? How much weight are you trying to lose?

How many carbs do you generally eat a day? Are you on set doses of Humalog or do you adjust your insulin according to the carbs in the meal you're about to eat?
