Beachbag I tested all the insulin pens a few years ago for diabetic research. All the pens lined up and had to do jab into a big sponge pad,most pens were ok but the solastar was awful and leaked insulin even after the usual count of ten when removed from the pad it dribbled very badly and so how can you accurately measure the amount given ,it could vary by several units and so make it difficult at the stage you are in finding your suitable dose.If GP allows me Lantus will get cartridges even if i need to buy a pen for itI've only just started (yesterday) using Lantus Solstar as my basal and am having problems, not unexpected, because it's going to take a while to sort out correct dosage. If your GP agrees to a change, I hope it works for you.

Thanks Alan, you're a great support. When it actually came down to starting basal/bolus, something I've been pushing for, I was quite nervous, lol. The weekend was rubbish, but today is a little better. DN told me to only bonus for carbs, BUT after doing some reading on here I bolused for protein at breakfast and two hours later got a 6.1. That'll do me for now
Who has all the answers?? Not HCPs lol...it comes from the foot soldiers who live with this monster every day!
