Hi Folks
I've not been on this forum for a year or so but felt the need to get some advice from people who have been through the tablets to injections transition! Last 5 years for me personally have been hell, and I've let my BG control slip a tad. Last HbA1c was 61 and this time round had gone up to 65. Cholesterol also up to 4.9 overall. I was putting on weight 6 months back so my consultant put me on dapagliflozin and now I'm a respectable 76kgs, with a good BMI for a six-footer! Also have been on Metf 500 x2 a day and sitagliptiin 100 x1 a day.
Because my BG had risen my consultant suggested I go on Lantus injections (one at night) as he didn't think I could get my BG levels down with diet. I have left my diet slip and know there is room for improvement, esp with carbs.
I thought the threshold for insulin injections was a score of 75. Has anyone been put on insulin for similar levels to me? Also, are there any grave implications re driving? I know I'll prob have to notify DVLA that I'm on insulin. Has anyone been able to get reasonable life assurance when on insulin? I've failed miserably with these high readings on tablets and need to get something sorted ASAP.
Sorry for epistle. All advice greatly appreciated. Glenn.
