Hi I am Travelling to Lapland for a 7 day holiday in December 2018. I use a Optium Exceed blood glucose monitor to calibrate my cgm, an animas vibe pump and Dexcom cgm. Temperatures can go as low as - 30! Would like advice on issues to consider, potential problems and how others have overcome these thanks. Things I have thought about is how or if the pump, glucose monitor and cgm will work in extreme cold? Will they be ok if under my numerous layers? Preventing Insulin from freezing? Absorption rate of Insulin in extreme cold?
I have skied numerous times in Europe since diagnosis with no problem with usual adjustments but not as cold as Lapland. I just want to be prepared with a plan for all eventualities. Thank you for reading
