Hi, I was diagnosed just over a year ago with type 1 diabetes but have suffered with PCOS all my life. As a result of PCOS I am looking into getting some Laser Therapy to remove hair on my face and neck. However the clinic I wanted it done at say they need medical consent for their insurance because I have diabetes. The Dr surgery says they cannot say the clinic can do Laser Therapy on me as its for the clinic to assess, they can only confirm I am diabetic, the medications I take, and the results of my last blood test. The clinic say they need a letter from the GP confirming that they can't see any reason for them not to proceed with treatment and then they will proceed with a full assessment of suitability for treatment.

Has anyone with type 1 successfully had laser therapy treatment? My Dr surgery rejects every request I make so there's no point going back to them as what the clinic is asking for is what they have said they will not do.

I have PCOS but I’m T2 not T1, I had to have a referral letter from my GP, sorry that’s all I can remember as it was over 10 years ago. It didn’t work that well for me to be honest and the cost I felt wasn’t worth it. I tried electrolysis and that was total agony, I now just get waxed on a regular basis

when I wanted to do this, I was told that since with diabetes the vessels are more susceptible to injury, and any wounds heal more slowly, the risk of burns, hemorrhages, wounds and infection is high, and that you should not put your health at risk just for the sake of beauty. But my diabetes was about 16 years old at that time, and I have polyneuropathy, so you're probably in a better position.
