Latest HBA1C

After having a HBA1C of 140 plus in August 2022 my latest result is 37mmol.

Does this mean I have put myself in remission.
Wow, really well done! Please post something in the "Success Stories" part of the forum - it's really encouraging for others.

Different people use different versions of what "remission" means. My GP practice uses one that says "one year of non-diabetic HbA1c readings with no medication in that time". Others are a bit more relaxed, but they all have something about normal levels and no meds - it's the time period that usually varies.

Well done again!

That’s fantastic @Jeff11 very well done indeed. You are certainly in non- diabetic figures, but like @KennyA says different areas have different criteria and timescales for remission. I also think you should post in the Success Stories thread.
Great result!

Well done for such a spectacular result!

Fantastic , well done you !

Fantastic achievement and you can call it whatever you want, you have certainly earned the right.
A little word of caution though, it's not job done, if you take your eye off the ball it will come back.
In some ways I think that keeping motivated and maintaining your non diabetic levels is when the hard work starts.
Well done, and please share, success stories really do inspire others

Excellent result, well done indeed, my take on it is Remission is just a label, all i'm interested in is keeping my numbers sub pre diabetic if and for as long as i can. It's immaterial whether it's called remission or good control, the end result is what matters.

Thanks. I'm not going to go back to my old eating and sitting down far to often habits. I've had my metaformin cut to 1x 500 a day now but I'm worried stopping it could make the levels rise again so I'll see how I go with 1 a day. As mad as it sounds being diagnosed diabetic has improved my health in a massive way.

Well done to you

Don't make the mistake of attributing your success to Metformin, it will have helped a little but without your efforts such a fantastic improvement would not have been possible.
Metformin and all the other drugs for T2 are just not that effective, if they were T2 would not be the problem it is, we could just take the tablets and forget it.
On average Metformin will reduce someone's Hba1c by 1.5% https://hopkinsdiabetesinfo.org/med...most patients find,as 1.5% on this medication.
So stopping it is unlikely to make any noticeable difference to your Hba1c of 37
