Thanks Zand.
What motivates me is the risk of complications that we hear about all the time.
It was a bit of a shock at first but I just accepted it from the start although it hasn't been easy all the time.
I miss the freedom I had before when I could eat anything without any worries.
Also I have the time to manage it closely and I still write everything down, BG readings, meals, carbs etc.
I have cut down on food a lot, my daily carbs average about 160g. I used to eat chocolate, bread, cakes etc. but very little now. In fact no white bread or cakes. I still eat chocolate but only one piece per day.
If this is what works for me then I will try to stick with it - time will tell I suppose.
Maybe set yourself a target if you haven't already and try to get there gradually. Good luck anyway.
