Really pleased my latest HbA1c is 6.8% or 51mmol/mol.
Have to try and keep up the lifestyle changes since Type 1 diagnosis a year ago!

Well done birchy. How did you motivate yourself to keep going? I started well and have slipped and can't seem to pick myself up again.

Thanks Zand.
What motivates me is the risk of complications that we hear about all the time.
It was a bit of a shock at first but I just accepted it from the start although it hasn't been easy all the time.
I miss the freedom I had before when I could eat anything without any worries.
Also I have the time to manage it closely and I still write everything down, BG readings, meals, carbs etc.
I have cut down on food a lot, my daily carbs average about 160g. I used to eat chocolate, bread, cakes etc. but very little now. In fact no white bread or cakes. I still eat chocolate but only one piece per day.
If this is what works for me then I will try to stick with it - time will tell I suppose.
Maybe set yourself a target if you haven't already and try to get there gradually. Good luck anyway.
