We discussed diet & how to get the message across - I still haven't had feedback from my talk to the support group, nor from the dietitians I tried to contact after their talk.

Dr said a bigger problem than the NHS/DUK diet was that most diabetics don't make any attempt to change their diet. His Indian friends (his wife, also a Dr is Indian) just eat their traditional food - stacks of chapattis & rice. My English diabetic friends, knowing my diet & the reasons for it, eat like everyone else, cakes & all. Even when their Dr expresses concern nothing changes.

When I responded to Watchdog about diabetic chocolate (2 years ago) I tried to interest them in low carb. They weren't interested; I tried to contact them but got no reply & they changed the contact address they had used.

I hope Dr John Briffa is getting a wider hearing.

Well done on the latest results Ian

I'm not convinced of your Dr's assumption that "most diabetics don't make any attempt to change their diet" Could it be that they do change to precisely what the NHS/DUK recommends and then suffer the consequences just as you did. Obviously some people will bury their heads in the sand and not change but my guess is a fair proportion do change but find the message simply doesn't work. It's far easier for HCP's to blame their patients rather than the message they are delivering.

Keep up with your brilliant work at trying to get things changed for the better.
