Off on holiday in a few weeks and wondered how people cope with this diet and having a few drinks?? what drink is best to stick to?

Thanks

Go red for the same amount of carbs or Gin a slimline tonic for a carb free drink. It's not all sin free though as it will slow down your metabolism as the alcohol will have to be burnt off first.

To be on the safe side add a slice of lemon to make it healthy!

Cheers!

Dry white wine. Gin, whisky or vodka, slimline or diet mixers or soda water. Coors lile. You should consider testing first as alcohol will initially lower you bg with the risk of a hypo. Peanuts and pork scratching are ok snacks. But not to many peanuts and no crisps :hilarious:

Vodka.
Diabetics drink quite safely.
Sometimes not so safely and end up falling over.
Not because they are diabetics but because they are drunk.

jackthe lad i just read that vodka is ok to drink you are now my hero i have been looking for a drink that wont effect my blood sugers too much

Careful what you put with it.

I heard that alcohol stops your liver from releasing glucose into you bloodstream, which would mean that low-sugar forms would cause your to risk hypo. I have not tested this!

Alcohol lowers my BG, just have to snack a few carbs and keep an eye on the BG.

So red and white wine will not make BS increase, only go down because the liver is filtering it out rather than producing glucose? I was diagnosed in December and haven't dared to drink yet... I do like a glass of red wine
