Hi. Can anyone shed some light on the following. I am a T2 since March 2016. I am diet controlled and my bg levels have gradually reduced over this time. I eat a LCHF diet and in December introduced 16:8 fasting. I have no problems with implementing the fasting. However, my bg seems to have gone up a notch. Before fasting I was regularly hitting 4+ mmol fasting bg and my post prandial bgs were late 5s early 6s and I was very pleased. Anyhow I read that intermittent fasting was good for reducing insulin resistance and wanted to give my body the best chance possible to stay fairly " normal" for as long as I can. However, as I said, it seems that my bgs have raised. I rarely achieve a fasting near 4 it's now averaging out nearer 5.5 and my post prandial bgs are averaging in the late 6s early 7s. Does anyone have any thoughts about this. I have also lost more weight since IF and was wondering whether I'm loosing muscle mass and thus reducing my "storage bank" facility (I am 6feet 1 and weigh 13st 3 lbs). I'm confused about what to do. Thanks for any advice please.
