LCHF but stopped losing weight

Very low would be starvation mode which is unwise. Did you read the link about leptin.? It isn't a gimmick.

I think I am actually very fine and also building up muscles at the same time.. but the days I excercise I eat like 1000-1500 calories more but do also burn off much more off... I take multi vitamins and other suplementations too and funnily enough I still have a rather high iron level even though I dont have iron in my suplementations..
Yesterday where I was at a funeral I did eat more like 1500 calories... as not choosing my kind of foods all day... but wonderfull to have a day off... and eat what other people do but in a much lower amount.. "apple-pie with cream"

My body is definitely not telling me that I don't need to loose anymore, I may of nearly lost two stone but I have another 8 to go, but I've just got stuck. So going back to basics, going to keep a food diary to see if I can work out why. Maybe I've just got comfortable in what I'm doing and taken the eye of the ball as they say?

I'm trying really hard not to count calories as I've been counting them on and off all my life. I don't want this to become yet another failed diet, this has to become a new way of life if I'm going to keep the diabetes under control. It also has to become second nature, so I no longer crave all the sugar and carbs I once ate, and don't start binging again.

I've been thinking about it and I feel part of my problem is I've started cooking from scratch again and its only me at home I think the portion sizes have gone up as I'm so used to cooking for four. I'm trying hard to stretch it out and eat it over four days but maybe the portions were too big anyway Although I have halved all carbs maybe I need to take it further and half them again?

If anyone has any other theories or further suggestions i'd appreciate hearing them.

Thank you all
Maggie

I found the eat all you can was nonsense for me.
The Newcastle Diet worked though.

If you have only halved carbs, but you are still eating the high carb foods, your carbs won't be nearly low enough. You need to eliminate carbs (other than in leafy green vegetables and salads). So that's no potatoes, no rice, no pasta, no baked goods. Sign up to the low carb programme on this forum or join the 2 week programme on diet doctor.

The reason that most people can eat as much as they want, is that on a truly low carb diet you want less! It is not, at all, that people shovel mountains of food away, it is that insulin is taken out of the equation and for the vast majority of people, hunger just melts away. When I look at my portion sizes now, I could put my meal on a breakfast plate. I am never hungry, I eat no more than 2 meals a day, I eat until I am full 'all I can eat' but that is probably less than 2/3 the quantity that I used to eat. And of course it is different food, but just as enjoyable.

Yes, there are definitely two types of people.

Those that don't need to watch portion sizes, as they naturally eat low calorie and very small amounts of food infrequently.

But if, like me, you fit into the other category, you will always need to be aware of the need not to simply overeat because you don't stop at very small portion sizes, (or even very large some days).

I am finding that doing Atkins combined with diabetes, particularly when I can test my BG levels is rather perplexing. I was losing weight regularly at 2 lb per week. My BG levels were drifting downwards, then suddenly I got high readings and stopped losing weight a few days ago, now I am not interested in food. I have roast chicken and salad I could eat, but I can't be bothered to go and get it. My BG levels are back down to about 7.5 after eating, but I am now wondering if I ought to check and see what it is now - when not hungry.

Keep going honey. We're still very new to this and I think of it for life. So as @AtkinsMo says, a long way to go.....
