Is there not a danger of raising one's cholesterol on LCHF diet? I was thinking about all the cream, butter, Greek yoghurt etc. I'm T2 on insulin, and have been taking ramipril foe some time, my cholesterol has always been around 3.4. Or is my thinking very muddled?
I think that the reasoning behind lowering cholesterol is muddled - it is like realizing that whenever there is a car crash there is an ambulance coming to the scene - so ban ambulances, no more accidents. Right?
Hi @francesk, you total cholesterol looks pretty good but the ratios of Total Cholesterol/HDL and HDL/LDL and triglycerides/HDL are probably more important.
Here's a handy calculator - http://www.hughcalc.org/chol-si.php
Thanks for your answers, unfortunately I don't appear to have any test results for the HDL/LDL or triglycerides, but I'll ask if I can get them done. All my levels (bg's, bp's etc) are all skewed at present due to a course of steroids so I imagine that it's going to take a few months to get back to normal. I think that I'll try and use more olive oil and rapeseed oil for cooking now.
