As Loobles says, we all have the right to choose what we do with reality. We don't have the right to choose what that reality is. I choose how much of the low carb diet I follow. I don't have the right to choose whether or not low carb works -- it's pretty obvious that it does.Your good knowledge and spreading advice is well timed when entered onto the forum which helps every one,you show us choice.
Hi Kat, I disagree with you on two points.I am really concerned about the dynamics that are happening ....I don't think diet should be the first big discussion for someone here who is new or not so new ....people are of course free to follow what ever diet they wish , but let a person have time to breath first ....there is so much to,digest and people are all just shocked in many cases ...I know what diet I follow and choose but I would never push it at anyone ...like me telling everyone meat is bad for you , yes I choose not to eat meat , up to others what they do ...
Yes I agree it is dangerous to , we just don't know the facts and are not qualified to say .....suggestions and our experiences are all we can share ...but when you come here and are baffled with the diet that you should or should not be following while trying to get a grip on what is happening with your life and health is just not right ...that is how it feels ...
I like the information daisy gives ....as long as it stays within nice guidelines ....what is wrong with it ....it does highlight diet choices as well ...
I'm confused... I'm the one bumping heads with some here, zand isn'tYour good knowledge and spreading advice is well timed when entered onto the forum which helps every one,you show us choice.
No, but maybe I did that on another thread, perhaps?I'm confused... I'm the one bumping heads with some here, zand isn't
No not you personally, I mean the LCHF message on this forum, usually when a new member joins..By 'your message' do you mean mine personally? LCHF is a good healthy lifestyle choice for anyone. You don't have to be overweight. That's the whole point! You stick to the amount of protein your body needs (1g per kg of weight, I believe) and you lower your carbs gradually until your BG's are under good control. The fat element is the adjustable bit, you eat enough so that you maintain your weight if your weight is OK to start with. This way you don't feel hungry. If you have weight to lose you have to be careful not to over consume fat because you won't lose weight that way. Of course exercise and drinking enough water come into the equation too, but that's the same with any lifestyle plan.
Oh right. OK. I think that's just because LCHF has helped so many of us, so there's always someone around to post about it. I don't think it's any more than that.No not you personally, I mean the LCHF message on this forum, usually when a new member joins..
Hi totto , like diet we all have our different experiences of being diagnosed ......and yes fully agree with you about the shock ...and it is awful for everyone ...I can't agree with all you say though ...but those are my views ....the mind what we read and think can be so different to what we perceive when reading posts ...we all view things in different ways at different times for many reasons ....Hi Kat, I disagree with you on two points.
Firstly, when you are newly diagnosed, sometimes over the phone, you are in shock. The first thing you want to know is, right, how do I handle this disease and lower my high blood sugar? So in my opinion sharing what worked for me, you and all the others is vital as a first step.
Secondly, I don't think anyone is pushing anything - well possibly one member who I put on Ignore so wouldn't know much about what he is up to nowadays - but otherwise what we do is to share our experiences. Do you find that pushy?
And please don't go for the us and them line. There is no such thing. If you start on that line you will create a divide that really isn't there.
Don't accuse please...not necessary ...thanksHi Kat, I disagree with you on two points.

Seems like the us and them again , I wonder why ....
So now I can't express my own words ...No, I don't accuse you but I wish you stay off the us and them theme.
Have it your own way then.So now I can't express my own words ...
Give up ....
My problem might just be me missing or not seeing support from Diabetes .co.uk regarding LCHF.Oh right. OK. I think that's just because LCHF has helped so many of us, so there's always someone around to post about it. I don't think it's any more than that.
I'm also very aware that we're all very different, that is something that this and other forums have shown me. Zand, so pleased that you have also found something that has helped you. I've been stuck on about 1,000 calories for 6 months now (BMR is 1900 before adjusting for exercise), may I go off topic and ask "any ideas?" Maybe I'll start a new topic, although not wishing to be big headed but I may have heard all there is to hear as to why plateaus occur. I'm even delving into the Krebs Cycle because mine is obviously broken. LOL All the best. GrahamYes @graj0 I followed what various doctors told me about weight loss for around 10 years before discovering that lowering carbs was the way forward. This was before I was diagnosed type 2 diabetic.
