At the moment... artex ceilings. Also the concrete patio.
Arrrgh! I am starting to get a little angry now. I have been following a LCHF diet for a week now (okay, not a long time in the grand scheme of things I know!) and have been being very good with my food choices. I am not losing ANY weight though... in fact, I am gaining weight! I have no idea what is going on.... I'm going to stick to the diet but it is pretty annoying denying myself tasty treats and having nothing to show for it!

What have you seen from your blood sugar and how much are you actually eating per day. If you consume more than average calories, even on LCHF, I've found that you certainly don't lose weight.

My sugar is under control, no problems there. I am actually eating... well, almost nothing per day (but not starving myself!!). When I failed to lose weight for the first few days, I cut right back. Ho hum, perhaps it's just my body adjusting.

Don't "need" to lose a lot - I would like to lose about 10kg and I have set myself a goal of losing it within the next 12 months.

Your profile doesn't give us many clues. I can't tell what your gender is, but if you are a female of the species, it is possible that your hormonal cycles may be leading to some fluid retention, which could be masking any longer term weight loss/gain. Aside from that, there are many reasons why weight gain could be happening - from constipation to the fact you could actually be consuming more weight than you are used to and your body hasn't caught up with that yet. By that I mean if you have swapped 300gr of some veggies for a slice of bread, your body has to metabolise the veggies and expel the water elements etc. It may even be that it's just taking a little while for your body to drop. Some people have found this to be the case where they are swapping carbs for fat; with the calorie laden nature of fats.

Of course, those are all stabs in the dark, but a week really isn't enough time to understand what might or might not actually be happening.

As a matter of interest, have your blood scores and/or insulin requirements changed at all during the time you have been low carbing?

Yes it's probably your body adjusting. Really, really don't worry about not getting into immediate weight loss. You have your blood sugar stabilised and that's a great thing, a better benefit in the long run than any weight loss. It's what you need to do first in diabetic LCHF. The weight loss will come with time. It may require some tweaking of calorie intake, as @tim200s said - though often this happens automatically because you feel full.

No need to worry, you are doing fine.

My insulin requirements have gone way down (between 2 and 4 units per meal, depending on carb count). My blood scores have always been good however as I like to keep tight control, for my own peace of mind but also, more recently, because my husband and I are trying for a baby.

Thanks for the support/advice. I am sure things will start moving... soon. Otherwise, well, it's good to try to maintain as healthy a lifestyle as possible.

Like Spiker, I think your body is adjusting.

Good luck, and good luck on the baby front too.
