I’m looking for advice. I have recently adopted a stricter lchf regime. I have always been what I call carb aware but I’ve actually cut them significantly to less than 50 g per day. It suits me. To be honest I’m usually having less than 25 g. Consequently I’m having hardly any daytime insulin but still take my nighttime injection. I’ve lost 16 lb in 6 weeks, My fbs is roughly 6 so I’m thinking it’s ok. I ended up having a hypo last night opal fruits and harvest crunch bar later I felt perfect. My question is about my night time injection is there an advised ratio for calculating my units. I know everyone is different but I’m just trying to guage my levels. I should point out my aim is to reverse diabetes!

When you ask about a ratio, are you only taking a long acting (basal) insulin twice a day?

If you are new to insulin, then most would start with a 1:10 ratio and monitor how it works. (As a guide, I now use 1:8 having increased my dosage a little over the past year).

What is your current ratio?

I don’t have a night time ratio but during the far it’s 1:5 in the morning 1:10 rest of day
