Thank you all for the support. I am now in week 5 of LCHF. I need advice if I should adjust my eating/meal times or should I just wait it out. I had huge success with my sugar levels down from my old norm of lows of 8.5 and highs of 11. My sugar levels settled down to highest 7.1 and lowest 3.2 but average on 4.4 to 5.5. I was on sitagliptin and gliclazide. I had two hypos and one in the car?? so went to see GP he was very supportive. I am now off gliclazide and back on metformin and sitagliptin. I couldn't tolerate metformin and was taken off it a few years ago with LCHF my tummy problems (ibs) is gone. I tolerate the 500mg in morning very well but my attempts to add one at night is a disaster what I can read on forum is to add it gradually. My sugars now are higher and hope it will settle down high 5 -6,sand 7's but every day about 12 my sugar shoots up 8.5+ with terrible headaches. After lunch they drop down. As it is its a battle to eat lunch I am not hungry but if I don't I have this high readings before dinner. My total carbs on average is 14 and highest in last 2 weeks was 22. I normal eat at 7.30 ( always a battle but if I don't my sugar goes stupid) I hate that I eat when I AM NOT HUNGRY. After a year of starving diets LCHF is so liberating, but I am very full after a meal. lunch is normally about 1 and dinner about 6.30-7. I tried skipping meals but with sugars high and terrible headaches (funny that my sugar highs is now 8's not 14 and 15 - any thoughts?

I'm wondering if you go low mid morning and liver dump before lunch? this could be the same when you miss lunch and go high before tea

I'd try taking your metformin with your evening meal..also ask if the slow release metformin would be better.

I'd try eating more breakfast or a LC morning tea

I am on slow release will try again on Friday night as I am busy with a big charity event and can not spend 4 hours in the loo again. I will try I normally have eggs and bacon I stopped having my small tomato should I have another egg or maybe have that egg at 10? I should also mention that normally before lunch I take my brisk walk with dogs could that be a reason

What about taking the whole dose (since it is SR version) at one time when you already tolerate it, rather than splitting over meals? I don't think the SR version is designed to affect single meals in the same way the ordinary version is.

Thank you that might be an idea will try this weekend , my husband is off shore at moment and we live in a small village so I have to drive to get children to school. When the diarrhoea comes I can not go any where- I have no control (sorry a bit grim)
