hi all,

I am brand new to LCHF ... Started on Friday and have felt so poorly since

I would love to hear from any of you who have lost weight on this way of eating...

I am certain it's the right way for me to go.
Just needing some inspiration

Thanks ❤️

Hi there.

I did the 2 week LCHF challenge. I kept a blog about it. The Low Carb aspect was very good for me but the High Fat was not. There are plenty of people on here that have had great success with LCHF. But as with so many things, you will have to find what works for you.

Good luck on your journey.

First, remember you are not dieting, you have chosen a different way of eating that you can follow for the rest of your life. Second, trust your body signals. Eat when you are hungry until you are full. Repeat when hungry again.
Third, eat enough and don't be afraid of fat. Read up on success stories on Dietdoctor, for example
Fourth, you may need some extra salt. I take half a teaspoon in a small glass of water when I feel the need, works more or less instantly.

Dietdoctor and Ditchthecarbs are two favourite sites.

Oh yeah, low carb is the only way to go IMO. and the weight loss can be great. Yiu don't HAVE to do high fat especially if you wish to lose fat as your body will use its own fat stores. But fear not fat.

You are most likely experiencing the low carb flu and can take a week or so but sea salt definatley helps. Your body is switching fuel sources and depleting glycogen stores so there is an adjustment period. Forge through. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck and welcome aboard.

It has literally transformed my life.

I was diagnosed T2 on the 13 April 2016 with attendant metabolic syndrome.

BP: 160/95
Trig: 3.6
HDL: .8
FBG: 12.6
HbA1C: 53
Waist: 36"

We are now 5 weeks post diagnosis and with only LCHF and intermittent fasting (1 day per week) my markers are:

BP: 127/73 average
Trig: 1.5
HDL: 2.0
FBG: 4.8 average
HbA1C: not due for a couple more months
Waist: 30"

And to cap it all, I feel full, satisfied, great menu, more energy than I've ever had.

I'll live like this forever. :)

You can both lose and maintain weight (or even gain it) with an LCHF way of eating, by adjusting the amount of food (mainly fats) that you eat. I have lost weight and have now kept my current weight stable for nearly two years by eating this way...

You may be experiencing carb flu as @Kristin251 has suggested - it's just your body's reaction to the reduction in addictive carbs.
Sometimes dropping them from your diet more slowly can help.
Always drink plenty of water and make sure that you have enough salt and potassium (from green veggies) in your diet.

Robbity

I'm still dropping like a stone Robbity, but with a couple of the threads challenging the accepted wisdom of "maintenance", I am pleased to hear from you that "maintenance" has not been a problem. I'm sure it's not a given for every one, but am hoping the difficult cases are the exception and not the rule.

I returned to full on low carb last Monday 09/05/16 and was slightly overweight at 99 kg. This morning I weighed in at 94.5 kg , that's a 4.5 kg loss in 8 days. As I do strenuous daily exercise the weight just drops off when low carbing. My target weight is 91 kg for running purposes.

Woooo Wurst, that's amazing. So inspiring. That's a big drop..do you feel ok?

Good going!
What made you decide to start low carbing again? Was it just the desire for weight loss, or something else?

Absolutely brilliant thanks for asking. Looking forward to running on the weekend with less weight :-) Just to confirm i'm not starving myself , I simply stopped all carb intake and still regularly snack on smoked almonds , cheese , sugar free jelly , strawberries etc. I strictly low carb'd for 3 years so going back to it is easy.

Mainly weight loss and an attempt at improving my athletic performance :-) Around 1 year ago , by accident, I found I had a fairly good tolerance of high carb foods (mainly chocolate bars) in the evening and this lead to weight gain over time.
