Hi I am in the first week of the LCHF and I am using myfitnesspal to measure my carbs which I believe is accurate but I don't think they support this kind of diet because it may be contrary to the way they measure possible weight loss so is there somewhere that has a database to measure my carb intake. Thanks

Have a look at 'Diabetes:M'. This is the one I use after trying quite a few others. It tots up your carb intake through the day and has a section where no end of foods are listed and tells you the carb, fat and protein amounts for each food. You can also add your own types of meals if you want to. I'm no techno wizard, but this app is nice and easy to use. It'll also produce a pretty graph for your bg levels.

Thanks I had a look I downloaded a few interesting apps from iTunes but Diabetes M I couldn't find have you a link for it?.Thanks

I wouldn't know how to send a link, told you I wasn't a techno wizard !! Anyway if you go to Google and type in "Diabtetes:M app", it'll appear as an app from Google play. It's Android and suitable for smart phones and tablets. Hope this helps.

I found it but not suitable for an iPhone but I have found a few to check out! So thank you for your help.

You're welcome, shame you can't use it, it's a good one, at least for me anyway.

I don't think the carb intake on MFP is inaccurate but yes they don't really support diabetics or LCHF much.

What is it that MFP is not providing you with, that you want? Out of interest.

Well I need to lose weight and all this week I have stuck with low carb foods which I find to be great, average 60 a day but at the end of the day after you input all your food it gives you the projected weight in 5 weeks in my case it has said 15 stone 13 lbs which will mean a 1lb loss over 6 weeks not very encouraging to see lol

@Viv0147, Could you just not ignore the projected weight loss and still use the app and keep your fingers crossed for a better result :)

MFP does not understand the weight loss model of LCHF. It uses a simple calories in, calories out method which won't work with LCHF. I'm not sure you will find any weight loss predictor for LCHF. And I don't think the MFP one is very accurate even for traditional diets.

Yes of course but there is no harm in looking for something better if it's out there, but I must admit the database in myfitnesspal is very impressive and I am sure will be a great help to me but I will do as you suggest and not look at the bottom of the page lol

That was my conclusion but this is all new to me but I think it will still be useful to make use of the database as far as the carbs are concerned. Thanks

Personally I would take the weight loss predictions of any app with the proverbial grain of salt in any case.

You know that no matter how optimistic (or pessimistic) is as apps prediction, the reality could be something else entirely.

You can tell MFP what percentage of fat, protein etc you want to eat, you can also input your TDEE and tell it how much you want to lose and it recalculates your calorie input.
