Not quite sure about what this one might mean for us....

"publication of a clinical study in the current issue of Atherosclerosis suggesting that low density lipoprotein (LDL) particles may be a more accurate measure of early-stage (subclinical) atherosclerosis than LDL cholesterol among retired National Football League (NFL) players. “These results suggest that LDL particle number may be a more effective indicator of subclinical atherosclerosis in retired NFL players with metabolic syndrome ” "

Ok, I've read it but I don't understand it. I know what Atherosclerosis is (thanks to Yudkin). So how to we find out our low density lipoprotein levels..?

You'd need to get a VAP cholesterol test - not something that's going to happen on the NHS.

You don't need to. Your blood-trigs are a good proxy for lipoprotein density:
Low trigs = small dense LDL particles (good)
High trigs = big fluffy LDL particles (bad)

Doh. You're right. Half a can of Coors Lite and I'm all over the place...
