Hi all.
Have come to recognise and realise EVERY WEEK I am learning something NEW each and every week .
All new and wonderful things to help and assist me to adapt my daily routine and life living with diabetes.
As time goes by. 2years since being diagnosed, I can look back and see how far I have grown and adapted settling down, more confident and competent than I ever was in the first 12months.
Have stopped beating myself up over something I couldnt ever change or have any self blame over.
Learnt to cope better with the frustrations of bafflement with a condition that was and still does its own thing at times!!! Despite a firm eye on the healthy foodplan and meals plus the insulin therapy.
I now look forward to growing and learning even more and am positive it will help me gain better control and a greater quality of life to be enjoyed.
Am 50 next week , was dreading it!!! [am forever young in my head :P ] Am now more settled happier confident than I ever have been in a long time.
It has made me wonder if others feel like this too ? when you get further along in your journey with diabetes. Or is it just ME turning a corner ? !!!

Hi Anna

What a really good and encouraging post.

I am still new to it and struggling most times but reading your story gives me hope that things will improve. I still think diabetes was best thing to happen to me in a roundabout way as it has forced me to change my lifestyle for the better. I do feel I am reaping the benefits but am still struggling to keep to the new regime.

I also agree that almost every day is a learning day. Every night I come onto this forum and learn something new (last night someone posted about chocolate mini milk ice lollies-I didn't know about them so I bought them today-less than 5g carbs each :D )

Hope you have a lovely 50th birthday when it comes and I am glad you are now looking forward to it.

Marina
