Hi. I should have done this a long time ago then maybe I would be in a better frame of mind right now. I'm one of these 'tomorrow never comes' type of people unfortunately. Was diagnosed type 2 about 8 years ago but never really took it seriously. Didn't try very hard to control the condition by diet so ended up on medication. Still didn't try hard enough & the medication has been increased twice. Don't test every day as I should do...hate needles. Found out today during a fasting blood test that I am also border line stage 1 high blood pressure (checked pressure whilst I was there at the clinic). So...I'm pretty much feeling sorry for myself & banging my head against the wall in despair when the only person I have to blame is myself. I drive freight trains for a living so when I get my blood results next week I'm expecting them to have an impact on my job if I have another increase in diabetic medication. Thats not even taking into consideration the high blood pressure issue. Also taking cholesterol lowering meds which I'm pleased to say have worked as I have been more careful there. And here I am bearing my soul to people I don't even know because I really am at a low point right now.
However...I am hoping to reverse things. The question is can I reverse things? As from 4 hrs ago I am on a diet (yes...overweight), I am eating only fruit, veg, fish & white meat. I am going to walk for a minimum of 40 mins a day regardless of weather or time of day. I am going to put my head down & try my damned hardest to reverse my declining health, secure my job & stop my life & that of my family falling apart. I need to do this, I will do this. I have no choice...period.
So there you have it. This is me. Will be popping in & asking questions & looking for advice. Any help you can give me, dietary tips, life style changes etc will all be most welcome. Thank you in advance. Regards.

Perhaps thinking if it as a permanent lifestyle change would be a good step as a diet of fruit n veg etc makes it sound as if its not achievable or sustainable long term.

Be careful with fruit. Many type 2's find certain fruit spikes their bloods high.

More importantly what are your plans for blood testing?

Oh and welcome aboard
