Hi there i have type 2 diabetes and have terrable leg and toe cramps. I spoke to my gp and he said it was the metformin that i,m
on. Also i have lost two stone in weight since i was diagnosed this is also due to the metformin. Has anyone else had this problem. :eh:

Well, I have had numb toes, shooting pains, numb thigh and my leg muscles just feeling like they need a massage all the time. I am not on the medication, so I wonder what your GP would say to me? Probably the opposite he said to you. I find elevating my legs, not staying the same position for long and exercise does the trick BUT I am not fighting against a medicine just myself!

I had the same and like Nike, I am not on metformin. Keeping my legs warm, calf stretching exercises, keeping toes warm, ie always wearing socks and slippers around the house, wearing bed socks and having a banana a day for the potassium and they have all but disappeared. Much to my relief I might add, I could get cramp getting in and out of the car or standing at a supermarket checkout. Just make a bit of a fuss about your legs and feet and make them feel pampered. It is not unusual. Have a look at this site: http://www.cosyfeet.com
