Im only 30 years old and didnt expect to be having problems this early in life.

Hi Louise,

Can you please tell us a bit more?
I see from your profile you are insulin dependent but are you type 1 or type 2?
What do you mean by kinda out of control? What is your HBA1C? How often do you test your sugar levels, what readings are you getting before and after meals?
Your dieting - is it to lose weight or to control your blood sugar?
Can you describe the kind of leg problems you are getting when sleeping/walking? Sharp pains - if so where? Numbness, tingling, pins and needles?

I'm sure one or more of us will be able to help you but we just need some more details before we can!

I have type 1 diabetes since i tens years old.. My HBA1C is normally between 10 and 12. I check my sugar levels approximately 10 times a day. At the minute they are running either way between 2's and 20's which i am finding hard to cope with. Im trying to lose weight for both reasons you stated, but i suppose i desperately need to lose one and a half stone to stay in my BMI cos when i am my diabetes stays well controlled. The pains i am getting are more aches and discomfort if that makes things any more clearer

Thanks Louise,

Your sugar levels are certainly subject to some wild swings. Maybe one of our type 1s can offer advice on how to use your insulin to gain better control?

Hi louise does sound like you are getting some big swings there which aren't going to mke you feel any good at all. And your A1c is very high.can you give us a bit more information on the insulin you are taking and doses etc. then we might be able to help you out a bit

It would be worth seeing your GP about the leg pains to see if it could be neuropathy, if so there are things that can be prescribed to help. but also getting your blood sugars in control should help.
