Just read online an article about the newly knighted Lenny Henry, see the below extract which caught my eye!!

" He’s also 3½ stone lighter after being warned in 2011 that if he didn’t lose weight he could become a Type 1 diabetic.
‘My mum lost two legs through diabetes and eventually died from it, so I knew I had to lose weight,’ he says. ‘The doctor warned me I was heading the same way."

Is it me or is this very poor knowledge of type 1, being overweight will not cause type 1 diabetes, if Lennys mum had type 1 then there is a genetic chance it could be passed on but overall not good news for the stereotypes people have with type 1 diabetes and diet/lifestyle. More great reporting in the British press

Could be but even lada is the destruction of beta cells not caused by being overweight

LADA is the result of beta cell destruction and the body loses weight by using stored fat and protein as it can't use carbs. A common symptom is rapid unexpected weight loss. If Lenny had a lot of excess weight it is highly unlikely that he was LADA/T1

It frustrates me to see news articles like this. It's no surprise that so many people are misinformed about the different types of Diabetes and what can be the causes of them when all they get is false information from articles like this one!
