Just read online an article about the newly knighted Lenny Henry, see the below extract which caught my eye!!
" He’s also 3½ stone lighter after being warned in 2011 that if he didn’t lose weight he could become a Type 1 diabetic.
‘My mum lost two legs through diabetes and eventually died from it, so I knew I had to lose weight,’ he says. ‘The doctor warned me I was heading the same way."
Is it me or is this very poor knowledge of type 1, being overweight will not cause type 1 diabetes, if Lennys mum had type 1 then there is a genetic chance it could be passed on but overall not good news for the stereotypes people have with type 1 diabetes and diet/lifestyle.
