Dear Cauliflower and Brocolli
I'm writing to apologise for snubbing you for so many years in favour of a good dollop of mashed potato. I don't know why I did it because I've always liked you both. And when I ate the mash I would feel so full and lethargic that I would leave you both on the side of the plate to be thrown in the bin.
I can't believe I did that but I'm pleased to say that now there isn't a spud in the house in any shape or form. I've alerted Morrisons, ASDA and TESCO to let them know that they can decrease the number of kilos of spuds they normally order as I won't be buying any for the foreseeable future. They weren't very happy. However, I've asked them to increase the number of cauliflowers and broccoli they have on the shelves so they're happy again.
I just wanted you to know how I made you taste even more delicious than you are anyway - I sprayed you with a little olive oil and butter and put you in the microwave for 4 mins to cook through, and then I sliced a couple of mushrooms and added them to the dish, then I sprinkled on about 3 ozs of grated mature cheddar and poured a tablespoon of single cream over the top and put you back in the micro for another minute.
I actually chose to eat you today because I had a big brunch of 2 eggs and 2 sausage with beans so I didn't feel very hungry at tea time, but to be honest you and the other ingredients filled me up as much as a piece of ribeye steak and veggies would have. I'm sure the butter and cream helps with that and I really only used a very small amount, about half a teaspoon each of oil and butter and a tablespoon of cream. And I'm sure the extra calories in the cream and butter doesn't even come anywhere near the number of calories I'd be having if I ate carbs.
See you sometime next week.
