levels for a 6 year old

hi i was wondering if anyone can help my little girl asked could she have her blood checked when i was doing dads and i was surprised to see that it was 24.5 she has not been diagnosed with diabetes, but just thought this was high as i am a non diabetic and always between 4 and 5 any help advise would be appreciated thankyou
 
Firstly, is she displaying any symptoms such as extreme thirst or lots of urination? It could be that she had sugar on her hands. Did she wash her hands before the test? If that reading is real the I'm very sorry but she looks like she may be diabetic as I don't think non-diabetics can have such high levels. Even consuming a large amount of sugar I dont think non diabetics will go over 10. Wash her hands, test her again. If it's still high then you should take her to a doctors or A and E ASAP.
 
she drinks loads and urinates lots she also wets bed 3-4 times a night to! Her hands where washed but i am just going to test again . I did mention to her dads diabetic nurse about a similar reading a few weeks ago and she didn't say much to it but same nurse forgot her dads medication was to high for 6 months. is this reading very high for a child i am worried ? thank you for your reply
 
With numbers that high you need to take her to A&E. Hope all turns out ok for you and your little one.
 
If it was me I would test again and then if still high take her straight to A&E.

When I was tested I was fasting 18.8, the GP wanted me to go into hospital as he was not sure at that point if I was a type 1 or 2.

He then went on to say that if I had been a child with that level he would not be discussing this but I would be going straight in :( (this is why I said to take her to A&E)

Not saying this to scare you and of course I am no medical expert but we were also taught on our first aid training (peads) ''if in doubt, ship them out''
