Hi samsmum when. Your son wakes at 3.5 would you still treat the hypo before her ate anything at 3.5?? Just wondering as new to this?
 
No i give him his breakfast which is usually, toast with a tiny amount of jam and a bowl of weetabix with tiny bit of sugar, with a cup of milk. Then i recheck his sugars and once they are around 4.9/5.5 i give him his insulin. Hope this makes sence.

Hi Honeymonster, my daughter is on 23 units of Lantus of a night and she does carb counting for her novorapid. Levermir and Lantus are background insulins that cover over a 22 to 24 hour period so really your sons amounts are not that bad every diabetic is different some need more than others
