Levemir and metformin

I have been on insuline for 8 months I've gained 3 stone !! The Docters and my diabetic nurse have put me on metformin 4 500mg tabs a day to try and lower my weight !! I also take levemir I don't often use my fast acting insuline !! Will I loose weight or keep gaining I've also cut down on my carb intake !! I can't stand this weight gain it's making me feel really unhappy x

Hi. I'm guessing that the weight gain is having too many carbs. Metformin may help a bit, but the only way with insulin if you are gaining weight is to control the carbs (assuming no other unusual medical condition). Set yourself a daily limit of, say, less than 180gm and compare that with what you currently have. I'm surprised you don't need to use the fast acting to control meal-time blood sugar highs; is you HBA1C quite good?
