Levemir running out too soon on lower dose

Over the last few months my insulin sensitivity has gone up dramatically, and I find I'm using less than half the doses I used to.
While I'm happy about this development (I believe the result of an increase in daily cardio and diet improvements), I'm now running into problems with the basal duration. I take Levemir twice daily, and it used to last pretty well through 12 hours, but it seems lowering the dose not only reduces the intensity but also the duration. I now find with a dose that keeps me level for the first 8 or 9 hours, my BG starts rising after that. I've been having to use extra bolus doses to tide me over.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue?
I'm still not too keen on pumping, so am wondering if I should look at changing basal. I was on Lantus before, which is longer duration, but I don't really want to go back, as it was less consistent than I've found Levemir to be. Does anyone do 3 injections of Levemir? Should I switch to Tresiba or something else?

Tresiba is really long 30hr+ and flat.
Works for me.
Yes sometimes a bizarre change is needed. More cardio can trigger a quick reduction being required.
Low and behold a month later though you may need to go back to your previous dose. No rhyme or reason sometimes. But when you have too much in your system, life is difficult. Annoyingly it can take a few days to realise and adjust sufficiently.
But the right basal rate +-5% is crucial for me.

This happened to me too. I was injecting Levemir twice a day but there was a gap and I had to cover it with a bolus injection. I switched to Tresiba, which for me lasts 24 hours and works great. It's a really flat line and is the best basal I've been on. I would certainly recommend getting your basal changed.
