Just after some advice/ thoughts about timings for Levemir. Currently I take my morning Levemir about 6am and my night injection about 10.30/ 11 pm.

I have recently cut down my evening doseage as I tend to be sensitive to hypo early morning after breakfast. I am now wondering if it could be related to timings more than dosage .

Just after any thoughts

Are you sure its not your breakfast/bolus, have you skipped breakfast to check the basal. I used to do 9pm/am and found mornings were a problem as night-time Levemir dropped off while morning was still kicking in - ie my problem was highs after breakfast..

How did you solve that steve

I'm having a try on 3 times a day, mainly to prove to consultant I should be allowed to try Tresiba if all 3 doses are similar in spite of CCG rules! On excel it does look like basal variation is about half what you get for twice a day.

I currently take 10u at 10am & 10pm and have noticed I'm dropping low in the afternoon. I thought about changing doses/timings but as you can see they're nice and simple as they are :-), so I'm going to try reducing my lunchtime bolus by half a unit and see if that will work instead. Obviously it relies on having a pretty regular lunch time but that's fine for me Monday to Friday, which is when the drop concerns me most anyway.

If anyone thinks I'm being daft though please shout!

Have you tried running am afternoon basal test, just to see what effect your background insulin is having on its own
