Type 1 Levimir to tresiba

Hi @Damonite Tresiba is very often prescribed when type 1's experience nocturnal hypos as it's profile is much flatter than any other basal insulin, so the primary reason why you would go hypo at around 3am is because your taking too much basal, when transitioning from one basal insulin to tresiba you are started off on a low dose and will gradually increase over time until you reach your perfect level, many new users report discontent at changing to tresiba for this reason, but once you've got your dose right you'll find it's a very good basal insulin. I was using tresiba before my pump and thought it was the best basal insulin out there after using lantus and levemir, so be patient when getting your dose right, also remember it's in your system 36 hours so making any adjustments shouldn't be done within 2-3 days of each to allow it time to work it's way through your system.

What was the reason for changing?
I find I go less low overnight with Tresiba than I did with Lantus but then 'Lantus Lows' is a term that is used by quite a few about lows caused by Lantus. I would've thought Levemir would give more control as its shorter lasting so you could have less overnight than during the day but it depends why you're being changed from it.

Do you split your Levemir, and have you done a basal test to see if you’ve got the dose(s) right? I usually need to give myself an extra one to two units of Fiasp between dinner and sleep as like you I find that for me Levemir’s profile isn’t the same as the graph given by the manufacturers. I think it’s harder to make it last if you need relatively lower doses.
I use half unit pen to make juggling with demands easier, and a half unit pen for Fiasp too, but I notice that whatever I do T1 seems to have a mind of its own and what works well one day will go awry the next.
