I am newly diagnosed T2 diabetes I already have an underactive thyroid which is being treated. I am taking Levothyroxin 100mcg once a day plus furosemide 40mg *2in the morning after breakfast. I now also have to take 1 aspirin dispersible 75mglus 2 * 500mg metformin in the morning. I take two more metformin iht my evening meal and also simvastatin 40 mg at night. Since the diabetes diagnosis I have become progressively sleepy and lacking in energy.I have mentioned this to my doctor and the nurse both of whom told me i need to get more exercise ! So in a bid to do whats necessary I have followed their advice yet the sleepyness and lack of energy is STILL there. As an example ...from yesterday to today so far - rose at 9 am ate breakfast exercised on my strider sat down because i felt 'woozy' and fell asleep. Woke at noon had my lunch (ham on brown two small slices) exercised on my strider sat down feeling woozy fell asleep and woke at 3.30pm. prepared the evening meal ( pork chop with all fat taken off, new potatoes and corn)sorted the washing machine etc put the evening meal on to cook at 5pm and sat down feeling woozy - my husband woke me at 5.45 telling me the food was ready! (if he wasnt around this could be very dangerous!) Ate the meal exercised as ive been told to again and then fell asleep around 8pm till 9pm. Went to bed at midnight and woke at 10 am and had so far a similar day today ! What I am wondering is .....is there any possibility my meds are battling each other in some way?? i feel like I did before they sorted the levothyroxine to a steady dose so is it possible the new meds are now throwing all that out?? Obviously the exercise I was advised to take after meals is NOT giving me the energy its supposed to and keep me awake!OR is my diet wrong?? hope someone can help me here thank you in advance.

Hi,

I'm not type two but i read something the other day that maybe could be an explanation. if your controlling your diabetes through diet and exercise it may be a good idea to exercise before you eat. i read that if your sugar is high then exercising actually raises your bg!! im not sure how this happens but i read this from a NHS website it was a questionnaire and i guessed wrong and found that was true! so maybe your eating and when you exercise your sugars do higher hence the woozy feeling you get an surge of sleepiness? im no expert by far but maybe this would work for you? and seems like to me your diet is okay sounds kind of like mine. a few carbs and veg fruit etc.. hope this helps.. if not it was worth a try :)
