It was suggested that a space for our LGBT community was created... so here it is!

Hi all

Welcome to our new space. While this is in the general chat area, I would hope that it can be both general chat and also about any difficulties we have as community members when managing our diabetes. Feel free to PM me if I can help in any way as we establish our presence or if you have an issue that you do not feel able to publicly post about because of your situation. Happy to post the questions on your behalf.

Take care

Doug

Well I think this is a step in the right direction well done to whoever suggested it

Diabetes knows no boundaries I'm all for equality and diversity but I won't equally share my KFC with anyone
lol

Good luck with the new thread, I think it's a great idea also.

Getting left out again!

Can we have a hetro thread?

Only joshing

Good to see, that we are diversifying!

The forum is all about community and enablement.

If you fancy an LGBT sub-forum then please vote at the top of this thread.
Thanks
Mark
I'm hetero but hopefully that won't invalidate my opinion!
I can see the value in this thread and in an LGBT sub forum as long as it doesn't lead our LGBT members (old and new) to think that's the only place they're welcome to post. In other words, the LGBT area should be a place where members can discuss LGBT issues but diabetes issues not related to gender identity or sexuality should be on the main forums.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I wouldn't want to see threads like "LGBT Type 2's - what was your fasting blood glucose" because that could lead to ghettoisation

This thread is a great example of why I like the forums on DCUK, everyone is welcome and they dont set ridiculous boundaries like some do.

Seems like the LGBT community are giving it a miss.

Well I tried...but hey you can lead a horse etc...
Shame though, patience and an ice-breaker on the thread are important. I'm not LGBT but it was a good idea.

And what makes you think that it counts? Do you think comments like that, which will confirm the worst, are appropriate?

Hello!! how did I miss the gay thread?! happy to join in and all, though I cant say ive had any Gay and diabetic issues....
