Hi all,

Firstly, I'd like to point out that I've been using the libre 2 sensor for almost a year and the current one runs out in 3 days.

For the last 3 days, the alarm on the sensor has been alerting me to low bg. On a few of the occasions I also feel like I'm having a hypo so do what I do to get out of it. Then a few hours later, it drops again. I've reduced my insulin accordingly but it's still happening.

What's confusing me is that when I'm also checking via a finger prick, some of the times it's showing my bg as quite a lot higher, eg. 4.3 on libre 2 but 8+ on the finger prick.

Does this sound normal to you guys or could my sensor be faulty? It's fitted well with an additional patch over it. I've changed the batteries in my bg monitor but half the time it's still showing discrepancies.

I would usually trust the finger prick before the libre 2 but when I actually feel the symptoms of a hypo like the shakes and numb lips etc. and the libre is saying 4.3 and the bg monitor 8.5 then it has be second guessing it.

Apologies for the long winded post. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

It can and does happen. I think Abbott err on the side caution with their alarms. Just last week, whilst driving my phone was going mad, constantly telling me my BG was below 4 and was in fact showing as low as 3.1. When it was safe to stop, I did a finger prick (I keep a spare unit in the car), and the finger prick showed 6.7. I have my low alarm set to 5.0, which gives me time to take action and head off a potential hypo.

Thanks for your reply. I've tested all fingers today and every reading was different! I'll be changing my sensor today so perhaps the new one will be closer to the finger prick.

I would let Abbott know, I had one similar wore it for 10 days and it suddenly started telling me I was very low but checked with a meter and it was no were near as low. I was just going to leave it as it was near to replacing anyway. Then mine early on the 11th day just told me it had ended and to scan a new one. Luckily I did have one to replace, but called Abbott told them the issue and they went through the app to see how long it had been on etc and then sent me a replacement. They have been great so far with their customer service I have found.
