IMG_1741724529.432535.jpg I’ve been this high a few times didn’t really take any notice of top range surely there must be a higher range or is it cus I’m useing the nu scanner does it go higher on a I phone let’s say thanks

The flat line just now is the top end of the range so you may be higher.
Even most fingerprick meters don't measure over 32. It doesn't make much of a difference, those are numbers that need medical care.

Can you call 111 like now for advice? Your numbers are dangerously high.

Do you know what happened during the afternoon to make you rise from an already high 17 to your current HI? What did you eat?

Not a thing all day I do suffer from very high blood sugar readings even when in hospital they don’t do a thing was over 26 the other week in hospital didn’t do a thing also been 24 in front of the professor consultant not do a thing just had 267mm of dapaglaflozin and 100 units of humalog hopefully will come down I have a very bad chest infection went doc’s again today gave me a blue inhaler and more antibiotics the biopics actually brought sugars down last week the only thing different is the inhaler thing thanks anther 77

Sorry antje predictive text was wondering how long do you think body could sustain high blood sugars for
Hi,

Can you tell us what a finger prick test says?

I find the Libre pretty close in the higher range. But not everybody finds it acurate.
It can be closer when in normal range?
An infection can cause high blood glucose.
But the sensor is reading interstitial fluid. A slightly different interpretation…

Is the inhaler some sort of “steroid?”

Yes finger prick says 28.9 yes inhaler is a steroid thing just looked double edge sword thing helped me breathe but has had bad effect on bloods just done a keystone test at least there in normal range

The infection is likely what makes your BG rise even higher than usual, it's very common to need a lot more insulin when you're fighting an infection.

There are two possible problems with high blood glucose (higher 10's or above).
The first can hit in a very short time, weeks or even days. Ketoacidosis or lactic acidosis, and if you develop symptoms pointing to this, get yourself into a hospital right away.
The second problem with high BG happens over years, high BG causes diabetic complications but there is no way to predict how long this will take.

Were you there for a consultation on your diabetes or for a different reason?
Can you contact the doctor/diabetes nurse you see for your diabetes to ask about adjusting your insulin or medication while you're fighting this illness?

You seem to know your side effects on what’s prescribed. (Your onions .)

I would suggest contacting your consultant regarding your insulin dosage during the treatment for the chest infection.

What I personally find upping insulin basal dosage for “sick day rules” is it needs a close eye as I get over a bug or virus the following day or days of recovery? Testing & sensor monitoring Is paramount…

Yes was seeing the specialist he’s ringing me Friday morning to go through my insulin doses again been down this road for the last 5 years up tytrateing to the dizzy heights of 1000 units of insulin a day 13 injections and says I have severe insulin resistance then he change insulin and this start over again nightmare cus now I have stage 4 neuropathy nightmare thanks for info antje77

Thx Jaylee don’t think consultants know what to do neither they will say up your basal 60 units twice a day another time which I’m expecting him to say on Friday he will say 6 units just don’t make sense to me upping insulin is there get out cus it’s deemed there doing something I seen another consultant once who was under my consultant he says that I need to be in hospital to do proper tests he did end up ringing me and said sorry that we can’t look after you properly the hospital just didn’t have the staffing for me to be in hospital never seen him again just don’t really no what to do or who to contact doctors have asked for a second opinion guess what the second opinion worked for my consultant that was his boss vicious circle thx jaylee

You appear to be using a very old version of the Librelink app. Might be worth updating it to the newer version that will give you readings every minute on yuor phone without scanning.

Thx Marc yes my phone is not compatible with libre so hospital gave me that device which also goes to the hospital need to get a new I phone perhaps thx again
