Interesting. Was talking with my DSN on something similar. My takeaway: I’m pretty sure that CGM and pump therapy will be standard within the next 10 years or so.

Libre2 is flash glucose monitor where as libre 3 is classified iCGM

As such like the Dexcom G6 it’s not approved to go on prescription for most people unless there is a specific and good reason

It’s the slightly better accuracy that gives it the iCGM approval for making medication decisions and approval to be used with pump for auto doses and corrections

So currently it’s nothing todo with cost but approval type

In essence the Dexcom 1. Is a g6 with the extra software and approval removed to make it iCGM so can not be used with a pump

It’s a shame because many could benefit from the newer tech

Just moved from Libre 2 to Dexcom 1 and have found accuracy and reliability both to be with Dexcom 1. I've been diabetic for over 50 years now and blood sugar levels accuracy is essential for a healthy life. Libre sensors are around 2 points more than the Dexcom 1, so if your readings on dexcom 1 shows 7 then Libre 2 is 9, that's very inaccurate. How can you. Control sugar levels with that accuracy, shame on you Libre, hope you loose the UK NHS contract. Libre also looses the signal. Piece of pish

I've been in Libre 2 now for 2 years. I've tried to get switched up to the new L3 with no joy yet.
Anyway, after my annual review with some chap who was not really interested tbh.
The review letter comes through telling me he will ask the team to switch me to the dexcom one.
Well, tbh pros and cons but I would much prefer the L3.
So in the UK, is it my choice or is it what are the NHS pushing based on some cost analysis they have done?
It is prbably negligible either way, so should the patient decide on what they prefer?
What are others in the UK (midlands) being put on?

(mod edit to comply with forum ethos)

Do you have a DSN at a hospital that you see? If you are disabled, then you should be able to get this!

I am type 1, I see a DSN and they ask my GP to prescribe whatever I need, they tell them and before I get home it is on my prescription!

It isn't really that hard!
