Hi there

Trying to find out if anyone in England has been supplied with the Libre 3 yet? If you have I would be interested to find out how you got it & how you are finding it?

Thanks very much

There are a few people on the forum who have mentioned Libre 3.
The search function at the top right of every page will help you find the appropriate threads. A quick glimpse found a couple threads.

Some NHS regions of the UK have approved the Libre 3. For example, the Panmersey NHS region which governs Merseyside and surrounding areas (I believe) have not yet got it approved for prescribing, however are trying to. NICE Guidelines have said everyone will have the right to a CGM as a T1D, or so I was told by my healthcare team

Believe the CGM they are offering at the moment under NICE guidelines is Dexcom 1 only.

Am wearing one at the moment. A Freebie following a hospital trial In April/May. Have had to wait to use it as I Phone has just got the App for it.
Positives-Small, no scanning, less waste. Accuracy for me similar to the 2
Negatives-Have to have an up to date compatible phone as there is no reader in the UK at the moment. No ongoing daily TIR which I am really missing. Just accumulative 7 day 14 day etc.
All other things similar to the 2. I think for me personally I am really not not bothered about having to scan but I so love the size and weight. You are not aware it is there.

That’s really helpful & interesting. Thank you. I also like TIR because of the “reward”. Of course, we should pay more attention to HbA1c but that moves less so isn’t as much fun.

Those negatives wouldn’t impact me. The positives sound great. I like the idea of not scanning, meaning I could check my levels more easily (in car without picking phone up) or more discreetly (work). The smaller size & reduced environmental impact also appeal.

What is your plan after this sensor? Technically the latest NICE guidance gives all insulin users access to a sensor that suits them. Behind the scenes there is a commercial battle ensuing between Dexcom & Abbott. Dexcom seems to be trying to commercially out manoeuvre Abbott with the watered down, large Dexcom 1 but doesn’t really appeal. I’d rather stick with with Libre 2 because of it’s lower profile, avoiding door frame incidents. I wonder if those making the decisions think of that aspect. If access is opened up, then reviews of L3 sound great even compared with the D7. I just haven’t heard of anyone accessing either yet in England except for via trials.

Thanks again for your answer.

I shall stick with Libre 2 until 3 becomes available. Whenever that is.
Just pointing out you still need to handle the phone to see reading. So wouldn’t help in car unless you just left switched on.

You should be able to see BG on a smart watch with CGM rather than flash (libre 1 &2) I have used libre 1 with Miao miao for years to achieve this and it's become essential for me. It's not possible (as far as I know) with libre 2 as the data is encrypted. I'm going to try the dexcom 1 which sadly required me to get a different (worse) phone, but the ability to read BG on my watch is worth the hassle to me.

Apologies for being pedantic but I want to check if you have a little typo - you say "It's not possible (as far as I know) with Libre 2"
I think you mean "It is not possible (as far asI know) with Libre 3" as you mention you have used it with Libre 1 & 2.
(If you want to update your comment, I can delete this and no one will know.)
