Libre reader not charging

As title says. I have a working sensor in (yay!) and had already charged the reader and saw it looking low so since I was at home plugged it in to charge but the battery is just getting lower. I have glimp on my phone as a back up. I've only had the reader since May 2016. I tend to only charge when battery is low (techy husband recommendation for all electronic devices).When I plug the charger in I can see the charging icon initially but then it disappears. Anyone had this happen and any tips to fix it?

How long should it take to charge?
 
Mine charges in about 2 hours from low to full. With trying different cable and charger if you can or trickle charge from USB port on a PC or laptop. Glad you've got the android backup available, might be worth ringing Abbott now before you need reader again. Good luck with it
 
I'd ring Abbott and ask for a new one. Sounds like there's something failing.
 
Seems to be working again so here's hoping....
 
@tigger, I hope your meter is okay and the fault (if there is one) is just with the cable...

Slightly off topic, but I have read that Glimp can cause the sensors to fail... This might be something to consider as I've read that this has happened to a few people.

I've always wanted to try Glimp, as I've again read that the app can allow the sensor to run past the 14 days? I just never had the bottle because of the possibility of failure.

That's interesting. I hadn't heard that. I downloaded Glimp because it was recommended on here. I find it tends to read a bit more out than the reader so don't use it much.
 
Glimp doesn't allow the sensor to run beyond 14 days really. The sensor has a built in clock, and once you get beyond 14 and a bit, the only reading you get off it is the last recorded data at shutdown. It looks like it is working but the values don't vary.

I experienced dead sensors after using Glimp, so you should take care with it. It's perhaps better to download the LibreLink app and just use that as well as the reader (as long as you remember to start the two together).
